Internic.ca Offers Canada's First Backorder Service for Expiring Dot-ca Names

OTTAWA, Canada / Jan 10, 2002 - Internic.ca is offering Canada's first
backorder service for expiring dot-ca names. People wishing to backorder
these names in advance of their availability can do so now at www.internic.ca.
"Thousands of great dot-ca names are becoming available again," said Rob Hall,
President and CEO of Internic.ca. "As things really got going in the dot-ca space
over the last couple of years there was a rush to register tens of thousands of
first-class dot-ca domain names. Some of these were never used, some were used
by companies who have since been sold or changed their business. As a consequence,
valuable names like bank.ca and fundraiser.ca may once again be available."
As a result of expiring registration, thousands of dot-ca names will become
available again later next week, and throughout the months ahead, as CIRA begins
releasing deleted dot-ca registrations for the first time. The first deletions
begin January 15.
"Our Internic.ca site now offers Canada's only publicly-available list of expiring
dot-ca names," said Hall. "Moreover, our exclusive Backorder service allows people
to pre-register these names pending their release by CIRA, and put themselves first
in line to register them as they become available."
Persons interested in finding out which dot-ca domain names are becoming available
again are able to go to: http://www.internic.ca/deletingdomainslist.asp.
This list of deleting names is updated daily as new domains are added.
By entering 'Ctrl F', people will be able to search this site for their favourite
dot-ca domain names to see if they are part of the deleting domain list.
They can then backorder their names from this location.
Internic.ca and sister company Namescout.com have been at the forefront of
Internet development since the earliest days. Internic.ca was Canada's first
dot-ca accredited registrar and is now Canada's leading dot-ca registrar.
President and CEO Rob Hall was a leader in the two-year process of creating
Canada's new Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), and served as
CIRA's founding Chair.
Namescout.com was recently accredited as the world's first registrar for
the brand-new dot-name domain, and has just been provisionally accredited
by the Australian Domain Authority (auDA) as one of Australia's first wave
of new dot-au registrars. Internic.ca and Namescout.com are owned by
Momentous.ca of Ottawa, Canada, and serve customers around the globe from
offices in North America, Australia and the Caribbean.
Today, they are the world's only registrar group simultaneously
accredited by ICANN, CIRA, auDA and the Global Name Registry.
