Media Advisory - Internic.ca President Available for Comment on CIRA Extension of Deadline for Re-registration of .ca Domain Names

    OTTAWA, Oct. 31 /CNW/ - Rob Hall, President of Internic.ca, Canada's
leading Internet registrar, is available for comment on today's announcement
by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) to extend the deadline
for re-registration of .ca domain names.
The original deadline for re-registration had been November 1 of this
year but only 30,000 of the 98,000 .ca domain name holders had done so.
Failure to re-register .ca domain names under the new rules will make the web
sites and email addresses inaccessible. CIRA has extended the deadline to
December 1 of this year.
Internic.ca is CIRA's first certified Registrar and has been Canada's
leading Internet registrar since 1998. It is part of the Momentous.ca family
of on-line businesses owned and operated by Robert Hall. Mr. Hall has an
extensive background in Internet regulatory affairs. He founded one of the
first Internet Service Providers in Canada and was one of the principal
founders of the Canadian Association of Internet Providers (CAIP). Mr. Hall
was a founder of and first Chairman of CIRA.
