Attention Business Editors:
OTTAWA, ON, June 26 /CNW/ - Rob Hall, an entrepreneur and pioneer in the
development of Canada's Internet industry has launched a corporate initiative
designed to support and enhance the development of on-line enterprises. Called
Momentous.ca, the business plan calls for the creation and operation of
several related on-line enterprises some of which have already been put in
place.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Hall said that he sees tremendous
opportunity and potential in the development of on-line enterprises. "I wanted
to create a situation where we could literally incubate new Internet based
businesses in a matter of months. Momentous.ca has the background, the network
knowledge and the programming skills that can be applied to an on-line concept
and bring it to reality quickly and efficiently", he said.
While the current crop of companies under the Momentous.ca banner have
been created by Mr. Hall, he is also looking for joint venture opportunities
whereby he can bring the resources of Momentous.ca to assist in the
development of other Internet based start-ups.
The Momentous.ca stable of companies currently includes:
Internic.ca, Canada's largest domain name registrar (owner of the
Internic trademark in Canada);
CVO.ca (Canadian Virtual Office) offers on-line office services such as
hosting and email to small businesses;
Inetbank.ca, A secure online transaction processor for credit cards;
Domains.ca, An à-la-carte domain registrar.
Echelon Internet, An Internet Service Provider;
Creditcheck.ca, An on-line, real time credit bureau reporting service.
Inetbank.ca and Creditcheck.ca are expected to be up and running shortly.
Mr. Hall then expects to launch related on-line businesses targeted at
opportunities in the banking and merchandising sectors.
Mr. Hall recognized the growth potential of the Internet as early as 1994
and since then has participated in a number of Internet based enterprises. He
started one of Canada's first Internet Service Providers as well one of the
early on-line shopping mall called Shop.Net.
Mr. Hall has also played an important role in the development of public
and private sector policies affecting the Internet in Canada. He founded the
Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) and served the organization as
its first Chairman of the Board. He was also a founder of the Canadian
Association of Internet Providers and served on their board as vice-chair for
4 years.
